I enjoy listening to music, playing games, sleeping, and playing table tennis.
Although the course content was simple last week, it gave me a preliminary understanding of the programming world. The basic concepts explained by the teacher made me realize that programming is not so unattainable.
Programming requires patience and meticulousness, especially when debugging code. Correcting problems after discovering them will give me a sense of achievement.
In the third week of class, we learned how to use Scraping Tool Options.Honestly, I don't understand what we are learning in class. I am confused about the usage and function of this tool.
Last week, the file format I uploaded on my personal website was incorrect. This week, I tried to modify it and added some new content.
Last week, we formed a group in class to select a topic for data collection and research. After a group discussion, our group chose Scenario 2: University-led Data Collection. In class, we didn't fully define the goals we wanted to investigate because we found that after identifying the target, we didn't know how to search for data.
After class, we determined the theme to be using the X platform to post digital participation on mental health content for students at the University of Leeds, analyzing their mental health status from September 2023 to September 2024, in order to provide a more comprehensive mental health support plan for the university. However, the results of searching for information are not ideal because there is too little information. We have analyzed the results we have found so far, but most of the relevant information was published by official accounts.
In Monday's class, we learned how to use Excel to analyze data and create pie charts, bar charts, etc. I have completed a table of statistics using the data collected by our group before.
In Friday's class, we used a program to have the computer recognize items. We put photos, audio, etc. on the website for the computer to recognize, and then we lifted different items in front of the computer to see how it would recognize them. Through this class, I learned that computers are sometimes not intelligent and often recognize similar items incorrectly.
Last Friday, we learned to collect data from around us. I analyze the types of messages my friends send in their WeChat Moments. Most friends like to post some music and photos from their daily lives, such as food, travelling with friends, and so on.
I collected posts from 32 WeChat friends and found some data through statistics. Most of my friends post a lot about travelling and sharing their lifestyles. I have also seen some friends who have been posting photos of TV dramas recently, and because they like these TV dramas, they share them on their social media. Most of my friends are of the same age as me, and they are mostly students. So I also share some learning-related posts in my daily life.
In class, my team and I discussed some content from our respective Weibo community circles. The community she chose is the community of Chinese table tennis player Fan Zhendong on Weibo, and the community I chose is the community of Korean boy team Seven on Weibo. In both communities, the commonality is that many fans share their photos and identify areas of secondary innovation. In the Seventeen community, many fans are looking for people to buy albums together, and in Fan Zhendong's community, some fans purchase albums together. Fan Zhendong and Seventeenten are both public figures with a wide audience. With the development and widespread use of the internet, many teenagers who have not yet developed good attitudes have begun to use Weibo, leading to a serious problem for younger age groups in the community, cluttered information, and strong hostility.
This is our last class of this semester. We experienced Twine's interactive narrative game in class. Then our group created a narrative game about the life of students at the University of Leeds in class, but it has not been fully completed yet. The background of our group's story is during the Christmas holiday when students are given a budget of one thousand pounds, international students at the University of Leeds will choose how to spend their vacation. Players can choose to stay in school and travel to the UK, travel to Europe and return to their hometown. If students want to go home, they can choose to spend £ 900 on a direct flight home, or £ 600 on four connecting flights home. If students choose to spend £ 900 on a plane home, they will need to ask their parents to help them buy a plane ticket back to the UK, otherwise, they will not be able to return to school. We haven't finished the rest of the story yet, but this process is very novel and interesting to me.
